The Gala is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 9, at Ace Gillett’s in the Armstrong Hotel, 259 South College Ave. Brand Spanking Used Thrift Store will display mid-century modern furnishings, and the Historic Homes Tour Committee will sponsor a silent auction offering vintage 1950s and 1960s aprons, valuable gift certificates, and other treasures as part of the evening’s entertainment. Cost is $30 per person. Tickets, available at the locations listed below, must be purchased by Friday, Sept. 3.

● 1901 Sheely Drive ● 1921 Sheely Drive ● Bonus Homes: 726 and 732 Maple Street
The Sheely Drive Neighborhood will be the main Historic Homes Tour attraction this year from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 11. The Tour committee has arranged for an exceptional mid-century modern tour of homes. The leisurely lifestyle associated with the Sheely Addition’s ranch-style neighborhood is also captured by two new minimalist-style homes located on Maple Street and North Grant Avenue. Builder, By Design Homes, will sponsor an ice cream social at the Maple Street homes, which will be open during the Tour. Other Tour attractions include lace-making demonstrations at the Avery House, 328 West Mountain Ave., and a chance “to take home a little bit of the Tour,” with mid-century modern furnishings available for purchase from Wool Hat at the Avery Carriage House, 108 North Meldrum St. Cost is $20 in advance at locations listed below. Tickets may be purchased at the door of each home for $25 on the day of the Tour.
Sept. 11 Walking Tour of Colorado State University’s Historic Buildings
Also on Tour day, James Hansen, Colorado State University professor emeritus of history and author of Democracy’s College and Democracy’s University, will lead a walking tour of historic buildings located on the CSU Oval. The hour-long tour begins at 10 a.m. at the southwest corner of South College Avenue and Laurel Street. Because the number of participants is limited, advance registration is required. Call (970) 221-0533 for registration information. Cost is $5.
